Practical Prepping Podcast Episode #225, Reporting Storm Spotter Information To The National Weather Service."

In this episode, we discuss what and how to make storm spotter reports to the National Weather Service, even if you have not had the Storm Spotter training.

What To Report:

Tornadoes, funnel clouds, rotating wall clouds
Hail one inch, or quarter-sized, or larger.
(Do not use "pea sized" or "marble sized" in reports, use
standard measurements or coin sizes for reports)
Wind speed, 58+ mph,  measured or estimated
Wind damage to trees, roofs, structures, or downed power lines.

Check your local National Weather Service website to find the ways to reports to them. You can make phone reports, online reports, for most local offices, and apps for others.

We discourage "storm chasing" for the untrained and inexperienced, but we certainly encourage you to get "storm spotter" training.
