In this episode we started out looking at prepping in small places, particularly apartments, but the episode took a turn to discussing burglars, where they search, options for hiding things in plain sight, and ways to hide cash and valuables hidden from burglars.

Regardless of the size of your residence, you may gain some ideas for more storage space, and certainly ideas for hiding preps, cash, and valuables.

Think "up" think "down" - In the attic & under house

Hidding things from prying eyes (not specifically valuables)
Using wide curtains, Window seats, and Platform beds
Storing Under beds, back of closets, back of pantry
Using space under tables with floor length tablecloths
(Great for food, water, gear)

Hiding things in plain sight
Using furniture for storage
Armoire
Chests of drawers and dressers for storage
Changing the storage boxes
Baskets, shoe boxes, hat boxes 
Mislabeled totes
"Christmas Decorations," "Baby clothes" etc
Pockets of winter coats

Hiding places
First Understand the actions of burglars......
Want to be in & out quickly, they will:
Take what is visible, tv, electronics, 
Then they start looking for cash, jewelry, & guns.
Flip mattresses
Rifle through drawers
Dump drawers on the floor
Open cabinets
Look behind the hanging clothes in closets
Looking for long guns in the corners
Looking for "fireproof" boxes or cash storage boxes
Look under beds
Guns & fire proof cash boxes often stored there

For Hiding Cash
Safe, or gun safe bolted down to floor
Substantial safe, heavy, fire rated, and impossible to move.
Tape envelopes above the top drawer in cabinets, dressers, and chests of drawers.
Inside the a/c filter compartments
Under kitchen and bathroom sinks

Recreational Vehicles
Be aware of loss of structural security in a burglary and in severe wearher
DO NOT stay in RV or mobile home during tornado warnings!
Be Very weight conscious if moving place to place
